Sydney Airport emergency: Malaysia Airlines flight is forced to turn back after passenger’s crazed outburst – major delays for travellers
- Malaysia Airlines flight forced to turn back to Sydney
- Man had a backpack, terrifying fellow passengers
A passenger on board a Malaysia Airlines flight has forced it to be turned back to Sydney after he apparently started shouting at passengers: ‘Are you slaves of Allah?’
The man had a backpack, which terrified passengers.
A passenger on the flight said he ‘unzipped his backpack, put his hands in, made barely veiled threats about having something dangerous in it screaming at the top of his lungs right next to my seat. Never been so scared.’
It is understood that members of the flight crew subsequently examined the bag and did not find anything dangerous in it.
The MH122 Airbus-a330 flight to Kuala Lumpur has now been diverted back to Sydney and forced flight delays in and out of the airport while authorities prepare to board the plane.
Emergency vehicles have surround the plane.
The plane landed just before 4pm and is isolated at the end of one of the airport’s runways, while the other passengers have been moved to another part of the jet.
Video apparently from inside the plane shows an elderly man standing in the aisle face-to-face with an air steward.

He says his name if Mohammed and says he is a ‘slave of Allah’, before challenging other passengers nearby to repeat that they are also ‘slaves of Allah’
The captain of a plane that was supposed to leave Melbourne for Sydney told passengers the flight would be delayed for at least a couple of hours.
‘He just announced the situation in Sydney just got worse and is a high risk security situation. Our flight has been delayed two hours,’ a passenger on the flight told Daily Mail Australia.
He says his name is Mohammed and that he is a ‘slave of Allah’, before challenging other passengers nearby to repeat that they are also ‘slaves of Allah’.
He became heated at one stage, pointing his finger at passengers and shouted at one: ‘Say it!’
The traveller on board the flight captioned the video: ‘Sydney Airport is suffering at the hands of this lunatic.
‘Praying for everyone’s safety and well being. Where is airport security?! It’s been well over an hour since the plane has landed back!!!’
In a second video later he added: ‘This lunatic is getting aggressive & poor people on board are still waiting for security to get in and take him to Allah through the right process.
‘Sydney Airport is waiting for what?!’
Another passenger onboard the flight also tweeted: ‘This guy should have been stopped at the gate before boarding, his actions were unsettling from start.’
He added: ‘Flight got diverted back to Sydney due this random idiot who started threatening staff and passengers.

Passengers were told they would be bussed to the terminal once authorities were onboard but have since allegedly been moved to a separate part of the jet.
