Woman is seriously hurt after car ploughs into Wigan fun fair during police chase | The Sun

A WOMAN has been seriously hurt after a car ploughed into a fun fair during a police chase.

The 42-year-old was hit by a silver Ford Focus on Morris Street in Hindley, Wigan, at around 8.25pm on Saturday.


Officers first tried to pull the car over on Wigan Road but the driver failed to stop and police then pursued.

The vehicle drove onto Cross Street and then Morris Street before entering a fun fair.

It then collided with the woman, leaving her with serious injuries, although these are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.

Greater Manchester Police said the occupants of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving.

Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Fun fair worker Sharon Sargent told the BBC: "The woman couldn't get out of the way of the car as she was on crutches.

"Her partner tried to pull her away and he banged his hand.

"Some lads managed to jump down and stop it with the handbrake as the two inside the car had run off."

Police are now appealing to anyone with relevant information or footage of the incident – including CCTV, mobile or dashcam – to report it.
