REPUBLICAN Congressman Lee Zeldin's campaign trail to become New York governor is in full swing.

The 42-year-old launched his bid to take over Kathy Hochul's current position this year after announcing his intentions in April 2021.

Who is Lee Zeldin's wife Diana?

The Republican is married to his wife Diana, who prefers to keep out of the public eye.

Little is known about their relationship, although she is reportedly a practicing Mormon.

Diana is said to have met her husband over a decade ago before tying the knot in a private wedding ceremony.

She is known for encouraging the attorney-turned-politician in every aspect of her career, reportedly aiding him wherever she can.

Zeldin is Jewish and a member of B’nai Israel Reform Temple.

He was attacked with a blade while giving a speech at a campaign event in Perinton, New York on Thursday night.

Zeldin said of the incident: "Someone tried to stab me on stage during this evening’s rally.

"But fortunately, I was able to grab his wrist and stop him for a few moments until others tackled him."

How many children do Lee and Diana Zeldin have?

The couple share two daughters, Mikayla and Arianna, who attend Hebrew school at the Temple.

The identical twins, Mikayla and Arianna, were born 14 and a half weeks early and weighed just a pound and a half.

Their doting dad Zeldin told in a Facebook post how they "fought like champs" despite the odds being "stacked against them".

He added: "Two weeks in, the doctors were actually encouraging Diana and I to let Mikayla go."

But his darling daughters grew up to be happy and healthy, as well as being their father's number one fan. 

The family currently resides in Shirley, New York.

Zeldin, a veteran who served as Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, currently represents New York’s 1st Congressional District.

The congressman is not shy about sharing his love for his family on social media, often praising them in poignant posts.

He heaps praise on Diana, describing her as an "amazing wife" and "incredible mother".

In a birthday tribute to his spouse on December 9, 2021, Zeldin wrote: "Wishing a very Happy Birthday to the most incredible mother to our twin girls, my best friend and beautiful bride Diana!

"I am one lucky guy!"

His partner has also applauded her husband online, dubbing him a "wonderful husband, best friend, daddy, and tickle-monster."

Diana often appears in her spouse's campaign videos alongside their two twin daughters.

Who is Lee Zeldin?

Zeldin is an American attorney who opened a law practice in Smithtown, New York after serving four years of active duty in the US Army. 

He operated the firm full time until he was elected to the New York State Senate in 2010.

In 2014 he was elected to the US House of Representatives, representing New York’s First Congressional District.

Zeldin also serves on two Committees in the House of Representatives: Financial Services and Foreign Affairs.
