The sandy hair, paunch and gimlet eye are unmistakable. But this is Boris Johnson as he has not been seen before.
Beneath the flaxen wig and extensive make-up is Oscar-winning actor and director Kenneth Branagh who will portray the outgoing prime minister in a new TV drama next month.
He is seen snuggling on the sofa with Carrie, played by Guardian of the Galaxy star Ophelia Lovibond in This England, which will paint a picture of the PM’s first few months in power.
In a new trailer released today he is also shown fighting two of the main battles that defined his time in No10 – the Covid pandemic and Brexit.
Sky revealed that the mini-series will first air on Sky Atlantic on September 21. This is a fortnight after he steps down from power and is also the day that leadership favorite Liz Truss has said she will hold an emergency cost-of-living Budget.

The broadcaster said the series, previously titled This Sceptred Isle, ‘takes us inside the halls of power, as Johnson grapples with Covid-19, Brexit, and a controversial personal and political life’.
‘The events in government are interwoven with stories from around the country, from the experts and scientists racing against time to understand the virus; the doctors, nurses and care-home workers on the frontline working tirelessly and heroically to contain and overcome it; and ordinary people whose lives were thrown into turmoil,’ it added.
Sir Kenneth, who recently won an Oscar for his coming-of-age drama Belfast, is unrecognisable underneath the prosthetics designed to turn him into the old Etonian.
Ms Lovibond is known for her roles in Guardians Of The Galaxy and comedy series Feel Good, while she also had a recurring role as Katheryn ‘Kitty’ Winter in US drama Elementary.
