Yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong was 'seeing other men' before 'she killed love rival Mo Wilson,' cyclist ex claims | The Sun

A CYCLING champ claims his fugitive girlfriend dated other men while they were on a break, and he was seeing the love rival she is now accused of gunning down.

Colin Strickland, 35, also suggested to The Sun that he only got back together with murder suspect Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, after his fling with pro cyclist Mo Wilson because they shared business interests.

Armstrong went on the run after allegedly killing Wilson on May 11, 2022.

Strickland claims he had a brief romantic relationship with Wilson in October 2021 after breaking off his relationship with Armstrong.

But he vehemently insists his relationship with Wilson, 25, was strictly platonic after he got back together with Armstrong.

Telling his side of the story, Strickland said that the version of events presented by law enforcement in an affidavit for Armstrong's arrest warrant was "skewed."

He exclusively told The Sun: "I had ended the relationship with Kaitlin and it was just interesting timing because Mo had come to Austin to visit a friend that exact week.

"It was completely unplanned and yeah, we started spending some time together.

"That was clearly expressed to Kaitlin at that time and Kaitlin dated other men directly after that.

"We were clearly going our separate ways but we just didn't get enough inertia to separate.

"Kaitlin and I were involved in several businesses together.

"Mo and I communicated about twice a month (after that) and I think it was skewed in a very misleading way in the affidavit."

Before going on the run, Strickland and Armstrong ran a business in Lockhart, Texas, which renovated vintage trailers.

A private investigator speculated to The Sun that Armstrong might have been using her younger sister Christine Armstrong's identity to hide in rural New York state.

She skipped town after police brought her in for questioning on May 12 but released her on a technicality.

Armstrong was last seen on May 14, leaving LaGuardia Airport in New York, three days before a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Strickland says that he has been in a "shell-shocked grieving mode" since the deadly shooting.

He also claimed that he never had any forewarning that there was anything off about Armstrong.

Strickland said: "I would say she is one of the least volatile people I have ever met and that's why it's so absolutely shocking.

"She had sides to her personality that I don't think she shared with anybody.

"I had no indication of anything like that."

Wilson was killed shortly after meeting Strickland at a local swimming pool while she was in Austin for a race in May.

He had dropped her off at the apartment where she was staying with a friend before her killer arrived and shot her dead.

Strickland denied any intimate contact between them on the day she was killed, proving that it was a platonic relationship.

He said: "If it wasn't, there would have been intent to do otherwise, which did not transpire."

Strickland has also confirmed that Armstrong and Wilson had come face to face with each other at a cycling event held in Arkansas in January of this year.

Following that event, Wilson texted Strickland: "This weekend was strange for me and I just want to know what's going on.

"If you just want to be friends (seems to be the case) then that's cool, but I'd like to talk about it cause honestly my mind has been going in circles and I don't know what to think."

According to a police report last month, an anonymous caller contacted Austin Police Department on May 14 with information about Wilson's murder.

The caller told cops that she was with Armstrong in January of this year when she had "just discovered Strickland was having a romantic relationship with Wilson".

The police report then states: "Armstrong told the caller Armstrong was so angry Armstrong wanted to kill Wilson."

Although still mourning Wilson's killing, Strickland would not confirm if he has been in touch with her family.
