One major reason is that the cost of feed, such as maize and wheat, has risen due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The same study also found that as a result of the cost of living crisis, almost one in five have cut back on buying clothes and cancelled their holiday plans.
Looking ahead, around one in four fear that they will not be able to afford a merry Christmas.
