A murder inquiry is underway after a 17-year-old boy was pulled from a canal with a stab wound.

The youngster, who has not been named, was found in the Grand Union Canal near Wormwood Scrubs in west London yesterday afternoon.

Police and paramedics were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard confirmed that his death is being treated as murder.

He is the seventh teenager to be murdered in the capital this year, and the second in less than a week.

It comes after the fatal stabbing of Khaled Saleh, also 17, in Paddington Green, west London, on June 19.
