Man shot dead in his car in Sydney’s west

A man has been shot dead while sitting in his car in a suburban street in Sydney’s west on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Hertfordshire Street in Elizabeth Hills about 4pm following reports of shots being fired.

On arrival, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command found a man sitting inside a car suffering multiple gunshot wounds, a spokesman for NSW Police said.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified but police believe the man is aged in his 20s.
A crime scene has been established and homicide detectives are investigating whether two cars found alight soon after the shooting are connected.

One car was found on fire at Bluff Street, Green Valley – which is about a six-minute drive away -10 minutes after the shooting.
A second car was found alight on Lewis Street, Bonnyrigg Heights – a seven-minute drive away from the scene of the shooting – several minutes later.
The NSW Police spokesman said it was too early to say yet whether the fires were connected, but it will be a line of inquiry.
