Tributes have poured in for a 27-year-old hotel manager who was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Kensington High Street last week.
Niksan D’Costa was hit by a car while crossing the road in London and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since the incident, police have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
The ‘supportive and caring’ duty night manager had recently left his job at the Hoxton Hotel Hoborn before the tragic incident.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, former colleague Beth Devine said Mr D’Costa had helped her enormously at the start of her career.

She said: ‘When I started at the hotel he was so nice to me and very supportive. We are in total shock, he was such a lovely guy.
‘Everybody liked him. He was so popular with everyone at the hotel. We are devastated.’
Another former colleague, Rodolphe Augusto, who worked with Mr D’Costa at the Hard Rock Hotel in Great Cumberland Place, was also complimentary of his character.
He said: ‘Niksan was a great friend of mine and a precious work colleague.
‘He was a pure soul, such a lovely person, very helpful and always with a smile on his face.
‘Niksan loved London and he was very focused on the hotel industry, he was a very hard worker and family oriented.’
Witnesses say up to 10 police cars descended on the busy London area after the incident – which closed the road.
One said on Twitter: ‘All of a sudden a big noise. A pedestrian has been hit by a car and died. Shocking.’

The suspected driver has been released on bail until a later date in May.
Mr D’Costa’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
