Horrifying moment doctors find a SPIDER living in a woman’s ear… and a whole colony of its babies in there with it!
- The horror discovery was made in Huidong County People’s Hospital in China
- The woman had initially come to hospital with a suspected case of tinnitus
- But it was soon realised the noise and pain was being caused by the spider
This is the horrifying moment doctors uncovered a spider raising a whole colony of its babies inside a woman’s ear.
The stomach-churning footage was taken by medical staff at Huidong County People’s Hospital in China’s Sichuan Province on April 20.
The video from an endoscope shows the doctor gently probing the patient’s right ear with special tweezers.
As the doctor continues to investigate what’s bothering the woman, they come across what looks like an ear drum but turns out to be a silky web carefully woven by the spider which has made a home for itself.
After a few attempts of peeling the web back, the terrifying spider raising a family rushes out from behind and launches itself at the probe.

Doctors were stunned to see the wide-eyed black spider but fortunately it was not poisonous.
The woman had initially arrived at hospital with a suspected case of tinnitus but it was soon exposed to be much worse.
Medics quickly realised that the strange sounds and pain were actually coming from the spider making a home in the woman’s ear.
Han Xinglong, the physician of the Department of Otolaryngology, told local media: ‘The web made by this spider is very similar to the eardrum.
‘When the ear endoscope first entered, nothing abnormal was found.
‘But when you look closely, there seems to be something moving underneath.
‘I pushed aside the spider web, it was about to flee, but it was finally taken out smoothly.’

Despite the terrifying ordeal, the woman only suffered minor damage to her ear canal.
The hospital cautioned individuals from removing foreign objects by themselves, urging them to seek professional help when available due to the risk of causing further injury.
This is not the first time surgeons have uncovered a live spider living in a patient’s ear.
Back in 2019, medics were surprised to discover an eight-legged creature living in a man’s ear during an examination after he had complained about itchiness.
Surgeons failed to notice anything abnormal with their bear eyes, but with the help of a microscope, they saw a grey spider in the patient’s ear canal.
Meanwhile, the same year, a Missouri woman was horrified to find out the ‘swishing’ noise in her ear was the eight legs of a poisonous brown recluse spider.
