Country road horror smash leaves three people dead after van and Ford Focus crash into each other

  • A van driver, 51, and a car passenger , 72, were pronounced dead at the scene 
  • The driver of the Ford Focus car sadly died of their injuries a short time later
  • The fatal crash happened this morning on the Bilbury road near Cirencester  
  • Gloucestershire Constabulary is investigating and is appealing for witnesses

Three people have died after a horrific crash between two vehicles on a country road near Cirencester this morning. 

A Ford Transit Connect van and a Ford Focus smashed into each other on the B4425 Bibury Road around 8.50am.

The driver of the van, aged 51 and the passenger in the car, aged 72, were both pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the Focus, aged 75, was airlifted to St John Radcliffe Hospital but sadly died of their injuries a short time later. 

The next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the vehicles involved prior to the incident.

Officers would also like to speak to anybody who may have dashcam footage which they believe would be relevant, or who saw anything unusual on the road in the time beforehand.
