Brit passenger arrested for 'assaulting partner' on holiday flight to Spain after cops meet landing plane | The Sun

A BRITISH man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his partner on a holiday flight heading to Spain.

The 61-year-oldwas detained after air traffic controllers said officers were called to a Jet2 plane that landed at Malaga Airport from Leeds on Sunday evening to deal with a passenger.

It is understood the 61-year-old has been held in custody for two nights following his detention before being hauled to court this morning.

It was not immediately clear whether he had been released on bail by a judge or had struck a plea bargain deal with prosecutors.

The Civil Guard said the arrested man held came from Manchester but it was not clear today if he boarded the plane at Leeds.

Flagging up the problems they said had occurred on board Jet2 flight LS265, which touched down at Malaga Airport around 7pm on Sunday, Spanish air traffic controllers said in a tweet: "The crew of a plane arriving at Malaga from the UK has requested a police presence when they arrive because of problems with a conflictive passenger.

"We expedited the approach as much as possible and coordinated the arrival of the police.

"All our support to air crews who continue to deal with this situation on a regular basis.”

A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Malaga, responding to inquiries about an arrest on Sunday at Malaga Airport, confirmed today: "We can confirm a 61-year-old man coming from Manchester was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting his female partner who was travelling with him.

"He was handed over to a specialist anti-domestic violence court in Malaga today.
