Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has resigned from his position with the Department of Health, taking on a new role outside the state government.

Professor Sutton will continue his work in the field of public health, joining the CSIRO as the director of health and biosecurity.

Appointed chief health officer in 2019, Professor Sutton led Victoria’s health response throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
