Armed police lock down residential street and ‘tell people living there to stay indoors’
Armed police have cornered off a block of flats at a residential area in Edinburgh in an ongoing incident.
They arrived at Murrayburn Place in Wester Hailes at around 1.30pm and remain at the scene.
The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
Police Scotland has been contacted by MailOnline for comment.
One resident said they stepped out their home to grab some lunch but were told to ‘get back inside’ by an armed officer in tactical gear.
‘When I asked him what was going on, he said he couldn’t tell me,’ they told the Daily Record.

A resident in the area said ‘tactical police with machine guns’ swooped down on the block.
‘I have no idea what is going on, but it seems serious, is a big crowd and police still there, my jaw dropped, it’s the first thing I noticed when I left my house,’ they told EdinburghLive.
