$XRP: A Closer Look at the ‘A Non Custodial Wallet With Superpowers for the XRP Ledger’
This article takes a look at Xumm, which its developers call “a non custodial client (wallet) for the XRP Ledger, with superpowers”, allowing you to “interact with the XRP Ledger and 3rd party tools while keeping your keys super safe.”
Xumm, which is available for both iOS and Android, was created by XRPL Labs, a startup founded by Wietse Wind and backed by Ripple focused on creating open-source software powered by the XRP Ledger (XRPL.

Xumm supports every type of XRPL, which was created in 2012 by David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto. Although the native asset on XRPL is XRP,transactions can be sent, received, and denominated in any asset on XRPL.
It is important to note that Xumm allows you to “interact with the tools & apps built by other developers, straight from Xumm.”
Xumm Pro Beta was launched on 20 September 2022. Xumm users can enjoy Pro features — such as transaction push notifications — by purchasing a subscription to Xumm Pro Beta from within the Xumm app.
According to a blog post by XRPL Labs published on 9 January 2023, Xumm Pro users can “instantly change their fiat cash into XRP by transferring funds from their regular bank account to their Xumm account and vice versa.” The Xumm On/Off-Ramps support EUR and GBP; currently, On/Off-Ramps are available in the United Kingdom and in the Netherlands.
One of the interesting Xumm features introduced last year was vanity addresses, which “allows you to personalize your XRP Ledger account address.” Here is XRPL Labs explaining how this works:
“You will get an account address beginning with a lowercase “r” and then a short value of your choosing. Xumm’s Vanity Address xApp enables you to choose among millions of pre-minted XRP Ledger account addresses beginning with your name/handle/brand instead of a random account address.”
