Source Code Shows Elon Musk’s Tesla Preparing To Accept Dogecoin Payments For Cybertruck — DOGE To The Moon?
Eagle-eyed Dogecoin enthusiasts have spotted the meme coin in the source code of Tesla’s Cybertruck checkout webpage. The revelation has fanned the flames of speculation that Dogecoin may soon be used to pay for the angular, polarizing electric truck.
With Tesla finally delivering the long-awaited Cybertrucks a few days ago after a two-year delay, rumors have emerged that the electric car company could be preparing to integrate Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment option.
The crypto community saw increased speculation that Tesla might have added Dogecoin to Cybertruck’s payment source code, which is not as farfetched considering that the EV’s CEO Elon Musk is an avid supporter of DOGE.
Crypto influencer going by the online moniker TOPDOGE007 pointed out that the source code mentions Dogecoin multiple times. These references are all related to DOGE payments that appear alongside other forms of payment like SEPA and wire transfers.
Some other community members noted that DOGE appears over 50 times on the Cybertruck page source code, which has fueled speculation that Tesla could be readying to accept DOGE payments for the Cybertruck.
Notably, Dogecoin is currently the only crypto asset accepted by Tesla for merchandise purchases. However, the possible integration of Dogecoin for Cybertruck payments would mark a watershed moment for the doggy-themed cryptocurrency.
Dogecoin Price To $1?
Dogecoin, the largest meme coin in existence and the 9th largest digital asset by market cap, was last week’s biggest gainer. DOGE is right now trading for $0.098, having risen 4.4% over the past 24 hours.
The DogeArmy will be eagerly waiting to see Dogefather Elon Musk’s next step regarding their favourite crypto.
Tesla previously made waves in the crypto market after purchasing $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin and accepting the apex crypto as payment for its electric vehicles. Bitcoin went on a full-blown bull rally after Tesla’s disclosure, though the company ended up discontinuing BTC payments over climate concerns.
Eccentric billionaire Musk has since continued his championship of Dogecoin, the meme currency currently boasting a market cap of $14 billion, according to CoinGecko.
Given Bitcoin’s impressive performance after Tesla launched BTC payments in 2021, market observers expect the price of DOGE to react the same way if the EV maker accepts Dogecoin as a payment method. Could it be the catalyst that propels DOGE beyond the $1 threshold?
