I'm Not the "Uncle Joe" You're Looking For: Charles Hoskinson Dismisses Anti-XRP Conspiracy – Coinpedia Fintech News
Charles Hoskinson, creator of Cardano and Ethereum, was yet again accused of an anti-XRP conspiracy.
Hoskinson refuted the claims on Twitter, highlighting the discrepancy in dates and his non-involvement.
His departure from Ethereum in June 2014 happened well before the alleged events.
Charles Hoskinson, the renowned creator of Cardano and one of the founding members of Ethereum, has finally put an end to rumors surrounding his alleged involvement in an anti-XRP conspiracy. The clarification came through an engaging Twitter exchange, where a user’s accusation prompted a swift response from Hoskinson himself.
Accusations Run Wild
A social media user presented Hoskinson with an email screenshot, supposedly sent by William Hinman, implying Hoskinson’s connection to a conspiracy against XRP. However, without hesitation, Hoskinson issued a firm rebuttal on Twitter, explaining the inaccuracies in the dates mentioned and vehemently denying any involvement in the alleged events.
Hoskinson underscored the timeline, highlighting that the emails and related documents were from 2018 onwards, while his departure from the Ethereum project took place in June 2014—long before the incidents in question. In a lighthearted tone, he cleverly pointed out that any grievances should be directed towards “Uncle Joe,” distancing himself from the dispute entirely.

Hoskinson’s Role in Ethereum
As one of the eight original founders of Ethereum, Hoskinson played a pivotal role in the project’s inception and contributed significantly to shaping its technological framework. However, his vision for a more regulated and business-oriented approach led to differences with other team members, most notably his well-known “beef” with Vitalik Buterin.
The differences in vision ultimately culminated in Hoskinson’s departure from Ethereum in June 2014. Undeterred, he embarked on a new journey with Cardano, a cryptocurrency driven by a research-first approach. His exit from Ethereum left him with a sense of having been wronged by his former colleagues, an aspect he has never hesitated to explain.
Dispelling the Allegations
With a clear and robust response on Twitter, Hoskinson effectively dispelled any allegations of involvement in anti-XRP activities. The community can now lay this rumor to rest, appreciating the transparency and clarity with which Hoskinson addressed the matter.
