University staff and students have been told they can choose if they are black, white or any other race – The Sun
UNIVERSITY staff and students have been told they can choose if they are black, white or any other race.
They can also pick their gender and even if they are disabled.
The “nonsensical” ruling smacks of Ali G — Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy character who deluded himself he was black.
The decision was made by the University and Colleges Union, which represents researchers, teaching staff and lecturers.
Its latest report says: “Our rules commit us to ending all forms of discrimination, bigotry and stereotyping.
“UCU has a long history of enabling members to self-identify whether that is being black, disabled, LGBT+ or women.”
UCU member Kathleen Stock, who is a professor at Sussex University, blasted the rule as “nonsensical, anti-intellectual propaganda”.
