Ex-McDonald’s worker reveals McFlurry secret in TikTok vid – and says machines actually rarely break

MCFLURRY lovers may be familiar with the disappointment that comes after a McDonald’s employee informs them that the ice cream machine is out of service – however, you can’t always trust their claims.

Dessy Joseph shared a TikTok video saying McDonald workers do in fact lie about the ice cream machine being broken saying they “just didn’t want to change those heavy bags of shake mix.”

“Here are some secrets I learned from working at McDonald’s. First one, the ice cream machine is actually rarely broken. At least at my location. We just didn’t want to change those heavy bags of shake mix,” Joseph says in the video.

“Where you’re switching the mix, it takes these five-pound bags and you have to climb up on a ladder – it’s super cumbersome. And it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the machine to freeze it,” Joseph told Insider.

“So what happens is, employees will just say they’re broken.”

The Tiktokers video has been viewed over five million times.

Joseph claims to have worked at the fast food chain from 2013 to 2014 and said it was a common trait at her location.

“Maybe some employees weren’t lazy and they’d go back and get more shake mix and fill up the machine, but that wasn’t me,” she joked. “Absolutely not.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson responded to claims saying, “McDonald’s remains committed to providing a restaurant experience that our customers expect, and that includes being able to purchase the sweet treats they enjoy from our dessert menu.

“McDonald’s and our franchisees are constantly working together on improving and enhancing the restaurant experience so that customers can enjoy McDonald’s food where and when they want it.”

However, Joseph said customers learned how to get creative with their orders and employees granted their insane concoction wishes.

“Customers would do stuff like ask for a Sprite with cherry syrup or McDoubles with mac sauce. We would make any substitutions they asked for,” she told the outlet.

In another TikTok video, the former employee recommended adding bacon to a McChicken and adding Oreos to a Mocha Frappe among other things.
