Japanese Car Dealer Accepts Bitcoin Payments Using BitFlyer Exchange

Bitcoin is being accepted in new shops and stores. The price of the famous cryptocurrency can go down or up, but there is always interest for fast and secure payments through the blockchain. A Japanese luxury car dealer, L’Operaio, will accept Bitcoin as a means of payment from users that use bitFlyer cryptocurrency wallet.

L’Operaio Luxury Cars Accepts Bitcoin

According to a press release uploaded by bitFlyer on March the 27th, bitFlyer users can spend up to 100 million yen ($940,000 dollars) to buy cars at L’Operaio. The only condition is that the user needs to perform the transaction using the wallet that the company offers.

This is a good starting point for L’Operaio to try bitcoin payments at its stores. The company is ready to test the BTC option at its stores in Tokyo, Setagaya, Nerima, and Aoyama. L’Operaio aims to accept Bitcoin in all of its stores in the future.

This is a great possibility for Bitcoin and its network. Developers are working very hard in order to launch the Lightning Network, the ultimate scalability solution for Bitcoin’s network. With this implementation, Bitcoin’s network would be able to process millions of transactions per second and reduce the fees involved every time people sends bitcoin.

With the Lightning Network, not only important shops like L’Operaio would be able to accept Bitcoin, but also smaller chains like coffee shops or retail stores.

BitFlyer is also trying to increase its presence abroad and comply with the legal frameworks where it operates. In January, bitFlyer reported that acquired a Payment Institution license so as to operate in the European Union.

There is an increased interest to accept bitcoin as a payment option in many places all over the world. For example, in South Korea, the cryptocurrency Exchange Bithumb announced a partnership with Korea Pay in order to make virtual currencies available in over 8,000 stores.

A Bithumb official commented to the media:

“We have taken a landmark step. We will try hard to set up an environment in which cryptocurrencies are used extensively.”
