Dogecoin Co-Creator Explains What Needs to Happen to Increase $DOGE Adoption
Popular meme-based memecoin Dogecoin ($DOGE) is looking to grow its popularity and adoption with a plan outlined by one of the two original creators.
Billy Markus, who co-created Dogecoin in 2013 alongside Jackson Palmer, recently told the altcoin’s fervent community about a plan to grow adoption. Markus pointed out that $DOGE supporters should work to persuade companies to accept Dogecoin as a form of payment, thereby increasing its use and broader appeal.
Markus instructed community members to “be cool,” when asking companies to accept $DOGE, noting that few people enjoy listening to jerks. He also recommended educating businesses on the benefits of accepting Dogecoin, including highlighting the passionate community and large number of supporters.
Discussion in the tweet’s replies revolved around the community conducting itself in a more friendly and compassionate manner, rather than being jerks.
Markus also addressed the concern that certain companies would just use $DOGE in the short-term to generate press and engagement, without actually helping the coin’s adoption. Markus said such a situation still generated engagement for $DOGE, which is ultimately a win for the community.
Markus’s comments came a day after Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly stated he would eat a happy meal on TV if McDonald’s agreed to accept Dogecoin.
