Ubisoft and Sorare to Foster Fantasy Football Blockchain Gaming | BTCMANAGER

In an official press release issued on October 10, 2019, distributed ledger technology (DLT) firm Sorare stated that it was selected into the Ubisoft Entrepreneur Lab’s program to help it expand the market footprint of its critically acclaimed blockchain-based football game.

Official Football Blockchain Cards Are Here

In a bid to promote blockchain gaming to the masses, French video game super-studio Ubisoft has added DLT-powered digital platform Sorare to its Entrepreneurs Lab’s program. With this, fans of the game will now be able to collect, trade, and play with official club-licensed blockchain cards.

Nicolas Julia, CEO, Sorare, expressed his enthusiasm over the partnership stating that Ubisoft is, in fact, the first leading video game firm to have willingly explored the potential of the emerging technology in the highly dynamic gaming industry. He added that the Sorare in tandem with Ubisoft will work toward creating an “unparalleled digital experience for football fans.”

It’s worth pointing out that unlike other digital collectibles that are often not scarce in number, Sorare’s blockchain football cards are limited edition officially licensed digital cards. These collectibles can freely be traded and used by gamers, the press release notes.

Growing Adoption

Sorare’s fantasy football game has already been licensed by 30 football clubs and is currently in the open beta phase. “Dozens” of other major football clubs are primed to join the list in the next few weeks.

The game allows users to thread together a team of five blockchain cards and earn rewards based on the players’ weekly performance. Users can earn bonus points based on the power of their blockchain card.

Nicolas Pouard, Blockchain Initiative Director, commented on the developing, saying:

Collaborating with Ubisoft allows Sorare to benefit from the expertise we have acquired over the last 30 years in technology, user experience and game design. By supporting Sorare, Ubisoft wants to empower entrepreneurs who will contribute to the creation of the entertainment of tomorrow.

Football and sports in general have slowly become a recurring theme in the fast-paced adoption of blockchain tech.

As reported by BTCManager on September 6, 2019, Spanish football giant Atletico Madrid had announced a partnership with blockchain firm Socios.com to leverage the latter’s expertise in technology to enhance fan engagement.
