Mum dies during dream family holiday to Bali after catching ‘superbug’
A mum-of-three died following a short battle with a 'super-bug' she is believed to have caught during a dream holiday.
Donna Dwyer was on the trip of a life time to Bali in Indonesia when she suddenly fell ill on the first day of her visit.
When she reported chest pains the next day, the Australian mum was taken to hospital by her parents Gail and Pete Barker.
What the family thought would be a quick visit took a dramatic turn for the worse when Donna was placed in an induced comma two days after her arrival, Yahoo News Au reported .
She was transferred to a bigger hospital but died on Saturday morning, four days after falling ill.
While a coroner is investigating and is yet to declare a cause of death, Gail suggested "some sort of super bug" was involved.
Donna has since been flown back to her home in Darwin.
“We are just totally devastated,” Gail said online.
“I never believed I would have to sit in a meeting and be told how my beautiful girl died. It is the hardest thing I have ever done.
"We are inexplicably saddened by the sudden loss of Donna and are very pleased to have her home with us in Darwin.
"We are now going through the preparations for her funeral with the medical professionals and kindly request family privacy.
“I feel like someone has ripped my heart out.”
After Pete announced her death online tributes poured in for the mum.
