Bittrex Says 32 Cryptos Won’t Be Accessible To U.S. Customers
U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex announced that 32 cryptocurrencies will no longer be accessible to customers in the U.S., effective on June 21.
The unavailable cryptos include STORJ, QTUM, PTOY, SWT, BOXX, BLOCK, ADT, AMP etc. The exchange said these crypto’s will transition to Bittrex International on June 21, 2019.
Customers in the U.S. will not be able to buy or sell the affected Tokens/Coins from the effective date and the systems will automatically cancel all open or unexecuted orders.
However, this does not affect the availability of these cryptos on Bittrex International for non-U.S. Customers.
The exchange added that U.S. customers may withdraw or continue to hold in their Bittrex wallet affected Tokens/Coins for as long as Bittrex International supports those Tokens/Coins. It will continue to custody all assets currently available to U.S. customers for a reasonable time after the effective date also.
A few weeks ago, another U.S.-based crypto-exchange Poloniex stopped offering trading of 9 crypto-assets to the U.S. customers from May 29, due to uncertain regulations in the country. All these coins, however, will remain available for trading to customers outside the US.
In April, The New York State Department of Financial Services or NYDFS had denied virtual currency license, known as a BitLicense, to Bittrex for failure to meet the licensing requirements of NYDFS.
BitLicense is the license to engage in virtual currency business and money transmission activity in state of New York issued by the NYDFS.
